Trade-In A step forward
An upgrade programme for the pieces you have loved.
becoming the seed of the next.
The Donzella Trade-In is a dedicated programme for clients who already own a Donzella creation and wish to let it become the seed of the next one. The piece you bring back is appraised by our atelier, and its value is recognised as credit toward a new Donzella creation of greater value.
It is not a resale platform, nor a refund. It is an upgrade gesture, a way of allowing a piece you have lived with to make space for the one that comes next, while remaining inside the Maison.
The programme
Trade-In requests are opened exclusively from your private collection in My Account, Collections. From there you select the piece you wish to trade in, indicate the new Donzella creation you intend to acquire, and submit a short appraisal request with photographs and the certificate code printed on your original certificate of authenticity.
Each request receives a dedicated reference in the format TRD-XXXXXX, which travels with the file from the first online appraisal to the final credit application.
Eligible pieces
Two essential conditions: a piece born in this atelier, and a certificate of authenticity in hand.
Silver jewellery
EligibleAll Donzella silver creations with original certificate of authenticity.
Solid gold jewellery
EligibleAll Donzella solid gold creations with original certificate of authenticity.
UNICA pieces
Not eligibleEach UNICA is conceived and crafted exclusively for its owner, inseparable from the relationship that brought it into existence.
Fragrances & complimentary items
Not eligibleNot part of the Trade-In programme.
The piece must also be in a condition that allows our atelier to restore it for a future life, as assessed during the appraisal stage.
The upgrade principle
The Trade-In is an upgrade programme by design. The new creation you select must be of a retail value strictly greater than the original purchase value of the piece you return. The credit recognised for the returned piece is applied to the new order, and the difference is settled at checkout.
The principle is curatorial, not commercial. Each Trade-In is a step forward in your relationship with the Maison, never a step sideways or back. It also ensures that pieces returning to our atelier do so with the intention of becoming part of a new chapter, not of leaving one closed.
What to provide
For a meaningful first appraisal, the request must include the certificate code printed on the certificate of authenticity, a short written description of the current condition of the piece, and clear, well-lit photographs from multiple angles. Three to six images, with close-ups of stones, clasps, joints and hallmarked surfaces, are usually sufficient.
The product page or reference of the new Donzella creation you wish to acquire is also part of the request, and travels with the file throughout the appraisal.
The journey of a Trade-In
From your first request to the moment your new creation enters production.
- i
Preliminary appraisal
Our atelier examines the certificate code, the description and the photographs to verify provenance and confirm the piece is processable. We reply within 5 working days.
- ii
Shipping
If the preliminary appraisal is positive, Donzella organises the insured, tracked shipment of the piece to our atelier with a courier of our choice.
- iii
In-atelier appraisal
Once the piece physically reaches us, our master goldsmiths perform the technical appraisal that determines the final Trade-In valuation. Typically 5 to 10 working days from receipt.
- iv
Final valuation
You receive a written valuation specifying the credit recognised for the returned piece, the cost of shipping, and the net credit applied to the new order.
- v
Acceptance
The valuation is binding for Donzella for 14 days from the date of issue. You may accept it, in which case the credit is applied to your new order and the difference is settled, or decline it, in which case the piece is returned to you at no cost.
- vi
New creation
Once you accept the valuation, your new Donzella piece enters its production phase under the standard conditions described in Order & Shipping.
No charge is made and no work begins on the new piece until the Trade-In valuation has been accepted in writing.
Valuation & credit
The Trade-In credit is determined by our atelier on the basis of factors that include the original retail value of the piece, its current condition, the integrity of its materials and stones, the cost of restoration required to give it a future life, and the present market for the materials involved.
The cost of insured shipping to our atelier is deducted from the gross valuation, so that the net credit reflects the true value the piece represents for the Maison after logistics. This is transparently shown in the written valuation you receive.
The Trade-In credit can be applied exclusively to the new Donzella creation indicated in the request. It cannot be cashed out, exchanged, transferred to a third party, or held as a balance for future use.
Authenticity & legal protection
Each Trade-In request involves a verification of authenticity. Should a piece submitted for the programme turn out to be not a genuine Donzella creation, but a replica, counterfeit or unauthorised reproduction, Donzella reserves the right to refuse the Trade-In, retain the item for the purpose of investigation, and pursue legal action under Italian and international intellectual property law, including the protections set out in section 6 of the Terms & Conditions.
This clause is not aimed at our clients in good faith, who are themselves the first victims of counterfeit goods. It is intended to protect the integrity of the Maison and the trust of every Donzella collector.
What we cannot accept
In addition to UNICA pieces, fragrances and non-Donzella items, the programme cannot accept pieces without the original certificate of authenticity, or whose certificate code we cannot verify in our records.
It also cannot accept pieces previously altered or repaired by third parties in a way that compromises the original design or the structural integrity of the creation, pieces in a condition that cannot reasonably be restored for a future life, and pieces with stones substituted by elements that are not consistent with the original specification.
In all such cases, we will explain the reason in detail and, where possible, suggest an alternative path, such as a repair under the 修复服务 service, or the acquisition of the new creation under standard conditions.
A new chapter
From the piece you knew,
to the one that comes next.
