Commissioning Bespoke High Jewellery in Milano
How a bespoke high jewellery commission unfolds at our Milano atelier: from first conversation to a single, unrepeatable creation made by hand.

To commission a jewel is to ask for something that does not yet exist. Not to choose from a tray, but to begin a conversation that ends in a single object carrying a name, a memory, a private meaning. At our atelier in Milano, this is the quiet heart of the maison: bespoke high jewellery conceived for one person and made by the same hands, from the first sketch to the final polish.
This is what we call UNICA, our practice for one-of-a-kind commissions. It is not a collection to browse. It is a made-to-order process, produced in a single exemplar and accompanied by a certificate of uniqueness. Here is how it unfolds, and what to expect if you are considering it.
What a bespoke commission really means
A bespoke creation is designed around you, not adapted from an existing model. It might be a ring built for a hand you know intimately, a pendant that carries an initial or a symbol, a necklace conceived for one occasion and worn for a lifetime. Because each UNICA creation exists in a single copy, no one else will ever wear the same thing.
This singularity is the point. A stone chosen for its exact colour, a proportion calibrated to a wrist, an engraving legible only to those who know its story. These decisions cannot be mass produced. They are made slowly, in dialogue, and they are what separates a personal creation from a beautiful object bought off the shelf.
Bespoke versus a custom pendant
If your idea is focused on a single pendant, a symbol, a shape, a stone, a finish, the maison also offers a dedicated Pendants Request service. It is more contained in scope than a full UNICA commission, yet equally unrepeatable. Both are reviewed individually, and both are non-returnable by nature, because they are made for you alone.
How the process begins in the Milano atelier
Everything starts with a conversation. You write to the concierge, or use the inquiry form, and describe what you have in mind, even if it is only a feeling rather than a finished idea. Some clients arrive with a precise vision. Others bring a fragment: a colour, a word, an emotion they want the jewel to hold.
From there the maison listens and asks. What is the creation for? Will it be worn every day or reserved for rare moments? Is there an inherited jewel to draw upon, a family sign, a date to honour? These questions shape the direction long before any metal is touched. If you are transforming an existing jewel, our reflection on the maison’s own story and its rebirth may resonate, because we understand how a sign can be let go of, and how a new one can be born from the same hands.
From sketch to finished creation
Once the intention is clear, the design takes form. The atelier works in the Milanese tradition inherited from the founder’s father: slow craftsmanship, by hand, in Italy. A creation is designed, prototyped and finished within the atelier, never sent out to anonymous production.
Choosing metals and stones
Most creations are built in 18k gold, yellow or white, chosen for its warmth or its cooler restraint. Stones are selected according to the design and the story you wish to tell. The maison works with a curated selection of both natural and high quality gemstones, and the nature of each stone is always disclosed openly. In several of our creations, such as the Opera necklace, a cross of solid gold born from the architecture of the Duomo of Milan, the central gemstone is chosen by you and hand set in Italy. A bespoke commission extends that same freedom across the entire object.

Proportion, engraving and finish
Detail is where a personal jewel proves itself. The width of a band, the depth of an engraving, whether a surface is mirror bright or softly textured. Our fanTAsy ring, with its dimpled surface inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, shows how irregularity and asymmetry can be deliberate, beautiful choices rather than flaws. In a commission, these decisions are yours to guide, with the atelier’s counsel at every step.

Timing, pricing and the private conversation
A bespoke creation is not a purchase you complete in a single click. Because each stage is reviewed individually, pricing for a commission is communicated after consultation, once the design, the metal and the stones are defined. High creations and bespoke work are discussed only in a personal conversation, a deliberate choice of the maison rather than an oversight.
For commissions that call for a tailored payment arrangement, the maison can discuss this with you directly. What matters most is that the object arrives complete: presented in the maison’s rigid box with satin interior, and, for UNICA, accompanied by its certificate of uniqueness.
Caring for a creation made for you
A jewel made by hand deserves to be kept well. Store each creation individually in its box or a soft pouch, away from other pieces that might scratch it. Avoid prolonged contact with water, perfume and chemical substances, and clean gently with a dry, lint-free cloth. Should a creation ever need deeper attention, the maison offers a Repair and Maintenance service covering cleaning, polishing, stone replacement and full restoration, so that a bespoke jewel can be cared for across the years it is meant to last.
Begin the conversation
If you are considering a bespoke high jewellery commission in Milano, the first step is simply to write. Tell the maison what you have in mind, or what you feel. You can reach the concierge at [email protected], Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 CET, where every message is read and answered personally, or speak with the concierge through the site. From that first exchange, a creation that belongs to no one but you can begin to take shape.
FAQ
How long does a bespoke commission take?
Because each UNICA creation is designed, prototyped and finished by hand in the Milano atelier, timing depends on the complexity of the design and the stones chosen. The maison shares a realistic schedule during the consultation, once the concept is defined, so that every stage receives the unhurried attention it requires.
Can I use stones or gold from an inherited jewel?
Yes. Many clients begin a commission precisely because they wish to give new life to an inherited jewel. The maison discusses which elements can be reused and how they might be reinterpreted. Write to the concierge with a description and photographs, and the atelier will advise you personally on the possibilities.
Is a bespoke creation returnable?
No. Custom and personalised creations, including all commissions through UNICA and the Pendants Request service, are non-returnable by nature, because they are made in a single exemplar for one person. This is why the process begins with careful conversation, so that every detail is agreed before the creation is made.
